An Allied Health Assistant (AHA) supports the delivery of physiotherapy programs and helps patients complete supervised exercise programs safely and effectively. At Basham Physiotherapy, our AHA works directly alongside our physiotherapy team to ensure your prescribed program is carried out correctly, monitored, and progressed as needed.
For many patients, the biggest gains come not only from hands on treatment, but from consistent, guided exercise that builds strength, capacity and confidence over time. This is where an Allied Health Assistant plays a key role.
Evidence shows that people who complete exercise under supervision have better long term outcomes. Supervision improves technique, reduces risk of flare ups and helps you stay consistent and accountable.
A supervised program can:
improve mobility, strength and endurance
reduce risk of re injury
support return to work, sport or day to day activities
build confidence with movement
maintain or improve progress between physiotherapy reviews
Your physiotherapist will prescribe your program and progress it. Your AHA provides supervision, coaching and support as you complete the exercises.
At Basham Physiotherapy, supervised sessions can occur in:
Hydrotherapy Pool
Warm water exercise can reduce pain, improve mobility and allow early movement without high load. Your AHA can guide you through your hydro program step by step.
Gym Equipment
From resistance training to functional strength progressions, your AHA ensures you are performing correct technique and using appropriate load.
Clinical Pilates Studio
Guided Pilates based rehab can improve core control, balance and movement patterns. Your AHA supports you to apply the correct movement strategy your physiotherapist has prescribed.
